Alright, I flipped a few textures around and got a carbon fiber texture, it looks a lot nicer now.

I also fixed a couple clipping issues on the left side of the dashboard.

I still need someone who will convert this once I finish it up a little more, so don't be afraid to send me a PM if you can do it. :)

Very very impressive. Might I suggest simplifying the panels around the top of the shield indicator and on the far right side, make them a little more squared? Clean up a little visual clutter and make it more robust looking.

Alrighty, I cleaned up some of the issues around the panels, but unfortunately the bit around the top of the shield indicator would require a complete remodel of the shield panel to fix, however I did make it a little more symmetrical.

And now I need to get to bed, more work in the morning! :D

Yeah, very cool!

Now we just need someone to convert it to ASE.

Alrighty, I'm still waiting on replies to some PMs, but hopefully I will get them soon.

Anyway, in this picture I adjusted the middle part of the dashboard and centered the camera.

Also, here's a list of submodels.
Code:
$monitor-left
$monitor-blue   (why blue, diedel?)
$ship-status
$shield-percent
$energy-percent
$energy-left
$energy-right
$key-blue
$key-gold
$key-red
$bombcount
$afterburner
$lock-indicator

\/Physical objects\/

$pedal-left
$pedal-right
$joystick
$lever
$chair
$interior
$exterior
$missiles

I'd prefer not having a joystick in the model, since the control device is right in front of the player on his table.

That joystick makes me think of the early Wing Commander games. Everything else looking so far so good. :)

As you can see in the D3 opening, the joystick is on the right side of the cockpit, a much more natural position.

Trying to open the file you sent me gives "Improper file format". I tried 3ds Max 9, and 3ds Max 2012 which is free to students (both high school and college.) You should give it a try if you are one, although it takes forever and a day to download-extract-install-activate. If not, can you check that the file is intact and maybe try another format?

That's odd, perhaps try this one? http://www.mediafire.com/?u2w2a3vux3m8up2
It's a .OBJ and .MTL, but if that doesn't work, heres the raw .Blend file. http://www.mediafire.com/?rzxyg1kvi2ngk6c

Sorry to bring bad news, but I must leave on the 19th, my family is taking me on another vacation for a week and a half or so. :(
While I won't have direct access to the model or my main computer, I will have internet access, so I will be able to see news on conversion status.
This time around I will be coming back on the forums when I get back, you can count on it.

Also, anyone working on converting it while I'm gone has my full permission to alter the textures, model, or UV Maps to Diedel's specifications.

Good luck everyone!

That one shows a plethora of import options, but everything I try results in a jumbled mess. What modeler do you use?

Edit: Whoops, didn't see the other file, Ill try that now. I also now see you use blender

I was able to get...something. Can't tell if it is ok without the texture files. I'll try to post it soon.

With any luck, it should look something like this.

Is that about how it looks for you?

Oh yeah, the model has a back too.
Also, dismiss the dark edges, it's a side effect of blender's smoothing, it shouldn't happen once the model is actually in the game.
