DLE-XP 1.7.74 is crashing whenever I try to save any level.
Also, I need to manually modify the .ini file because it keeps forgetting where I set the preferences to the pig files

Setting and saving the ini is no problem. But not being able to save a level is a problem. It is hampering my efforts to make new levels.

I am running XP on a P4 3.06 machine.

I got the same .ini problem sometimes (i need also to edit it manually as DLE-XP doesn't stores its settings on it), but no problems when saving levels. Confused

Amount of RAM?

EDIT: I've tested with .74 (i was not updated) and yeap, it crashes but only when saving to HOG file. If you save your level as bare .RL2 it works right, so in the meantime you could save your levels that way and put them on your HOG with an HOG manager.

So, it seems this is a bug that should be reported at Sourceforge.net. I will report it...

I found a workaround for the problem
As long as you don't just save from scratch, it seems to do okay.

I'll wait till you post it. .74 is still the one listed on the http://www.descent2.de/ page.

The odd thing about .75 is that when it's unzipped and ran, it says it's .74. However, I haven't had it crash, yet.

Just one more question ...

I am working with custom animated texture pogs using DTX2.
The old DMB2 couldn't save modified pogs with custom animations, it always rendered those as default animations if the level was saved after the custom animation was inserted by DTX2.

Does DLE-XP have that same protocol? Does it revert custom animations back to default textures, or does it preserve the modified animations created and inserted by DTX2?

I haven't tested it yet, and I'm afraid to, as I have gotten accustomed to doing all of the special steps in DTX2 to insert the custom textures after modifying the level using DLE-XP.

Rhetorical question: Why don't you just try it? Wink

DLE-XP has been updated.

Oh, and in many, many ways. It makes lighting quite a lot easier, and no longer interferes with HXM/POG content.

Lobber, I didn't really understand your concerns, but after pondering on it a while I think you are referring DMB2 deleted stuff from POG files it found wasn't used by the level (e.g. replaced robot textures). DLE-XP doesn't do that. I've had problems with that too, so that got fixed pretty early in the development of DLE-XP.
