I think one of the early 2.0 betas had a modified descent2.hog file where Diedel was making some testing, try to copy the original descent2.hog from your D2 install over it in your Data folder and check if that fixes the issue.

Yeah, I put the original game files in the initial install files (an oversight of mine) and I had messed around with these.
