Boiling Point

I had started this mission over a year ago with the goal to create some outdoor areas with the Descent engine that really looked like outdoor areas. Lots of other stuff kept me from completing this mission, until I finally came around to picking up work on it again. It turned out that it had been far from finished, as my plans had been a complete campaign spanning several different locations. It took me a few more weeks of hard work to put everything in this mission I have had in my mind for it, and here it is. Boiling Point truly is the apex of my Descent related works.

Lunar Outpost Reloaded

Lunar Outpost Reloaded has been inspired by sushi.h.a's conversion of the first level of the Descent 1 main campaign for Unreal Tournament 2004. So what you will find is the classic mission that is the fondest memory of every true Descent lover in a massively beefed up version for D2X-XL. I pushed the engine to its limits for this level.

You will find a few minor changes to the original mission's gameplay as well as many of D2X-XL's advanced features put to use in Lunar Outpost Reloaded. You will need D2X-XL v1.15 or later to play this mission.

Lunar Outpost hires textures

You can download the hires textures required for Lunar Outpost Reloaded here. Extract the zip file to your Descent 2 directory and enable hires texture usage by placing '-hires_textures 1' in d2x.ini. If D2X-XL exits to desktop while loading the hires textures for Lunar Outpost (or any other level), try to decrease texture quality in the advanced render options menu (enable expert option display in the miscellaneous menu to see it).

Warp Shockwave

Prepare to see some architecture like you've never seen before! Prepare to have some brutal action like you've never had before! And - I almost forgot - save the world from these weird alien bots once again ... :D
